Award: Winner of Competition

“The Palace of the First Coin” is one of the key points for the development of the area South of the Termini station in Rome. The project aims to redevelop and renovate the existing building in accordance with the new functional program. The attitude towards the existent is based on the aim to rediscover the identity elements characterized by the symmetrical and compound volumetric structure of the building and by the “industrial” flavour of the rooms, given by the presence of the large machines for processing coins. 

A project that aims to integrate the past, to research and rediscover the original features of the building, but with a look towards the future capable of revitalizing areas rich of history and value. Unity, dialogue, and contemporary are the values and the key concepts to understand the project.
